A Discarded Cap

Question

You recently attended a meeting at a hotel. When you returned home, you found you had left some important papers at the hotel. Write a letter to the manager of the hotel. In your letter - say where you think you left the papers, explain why they are so important, tell the manager what you want him / her to do.

Model Answer

Dear Sir / Madam,

As you are aware, last week your hotel hosted a conference for retired taxidermists. I was one of the guest speakers at the event and had a very enjoyable evening. Unfortunately, however, I am writing to you as I have just realised I am missing some very important papers from the event.

After my speech, I joined some colleagues at the hotel bar and I believe I must have left my notes on a small table to the left of the stage. I would very much like to have the papers as they contain details of my latest project of which I don't have another copy.

I would appreciate it if a member of staff could check the table to see if, by any chance, my notes are still there. If someone could then contact me on the number provided above, I would be eternally grateful,

Yours in anticipation,
